The freezer plays a key role in ensuring hotels, bars, restaurants and supermarkets can maintain high standards of health and safety when it comes to food service. Even more important is your freezer seal – the crucial bit of kit that ensures your produce remains fresh, chilled and fit for consumption.

Should your freezer seal fail, you’ll need to replace it as soon as possible, or you’re at risk of disruption to your daily operations, wasted produce, and increased energy use.

Our network of strategically placed seal technicians are available across the UK to provide commercial freezer seal replacement services for any broken freezer seal you may have. We can supply and fit replacement seals for up to 95% of commercial freezer units, and with our “retro” Fit Filta Track System we can even replace obsolete seals on certain units too.

FiltaSeal's Freezer Seal Replacement Services

Freezer seals are usually in the form of a magnetic strip in a rubber or plastic coating which is used to hold the freezer door firm against the freezer body. The seal forms an airtight grip which ensures the cold air generated by the freezer doesn’t leak out into the room, keeping all the items within a cool temperature.

But after time, and due to overuse, a freezer door seal – also known as a gasket – can become faulty and no longer airtight. When this happens, warmer air gets into the freezer which contains bacteria and other micro-organisms, all of which can cause food to deteriorate.

The Freezer Door Seals We Replace

We can provide replacement seals for the majority of commercial freezers, and can provide a first-time fix replacement for 95% of freezer seals including:

  • Chest Freezers
  • Walk-in Freezer cold rooms
  • Upright units
  • Undercounter units

Can’t see your commercial freezer on the list? Don’t worry! We can supply and fit up to 95% of commercial units, get in touch to see if we can help you.

Signs You Need a Freezer Seal Replacement

Think your freezer seal might be faulty? Here’s how you can tell:

  • Door popping open: If the door to your freezer pops open repeatedly, it’s a sign the seal has weakened and can no longer remain closed as it should.
  • Warm interior: The most obvious symptom of a broken freezer door seal is that the contents inside are warm. If food isn’t completely frozen, as it should be, check your freezer seal.
  • Frost build-up: A broken freezer seal will mean the temperature of your freezer is always changing, which can lead to frost build-up. This will limit airflow in your freezer reducing the quality of your frozen goods.
  • Freezer constantly running: Your freezer should be quiet for long periods of the day. If your freezer seal is broken, warm air will get in and cold air will escape, meaning the freezer will have to work harder to maintain an optimum temperature. So, if yours is constantly running, a broken freezer seal could be the culprit.
  • Higher electricity bills: If your bills suddenly spike and there’s no clear reason why, it’s worth checking your freezer seal. With the appliance working in overdrive, it’ll be using more electricity than usual.

Why You Should Replace Your Freezer Seal

  • Profit margins: If your freezer seal is faulty the immediate impact on your business will be that food you had earmarked for serving or selling may no longer be fit for consumption. This will impact your profit margins, as any affected food will need replacing.
  • Reputational impact: Should this happen at a time when you’re preparing to welcome customers, it could impact your operations to such an extent that your reputation becomes affected.
  • Appliance longevity: Ensuring your freezer door seal is working to its optimum level will give your freezer a longer life span, too.
  • Energy efficiency: As a modern business, you’ll always have one eye on sustainability and energy performance. A broken freezer seal forces a freezer to work harder to replenish its cold air. This requires more energy use, which will increase your bills and relies on greater carbon expenditure. Based on an average commercial kitchen, a new freezer seal vs a broken freezer seal could save 2,135 kg of Co2 per year, reduce energy consumption by up to 25% and help you save up to £500 per year in energy costs.
